2012 Nissan Versa
So hmmm... The Nissan Versa was never really a looker. Not bad but no beauty queen. Modded versions can look cool. Now Nissan came out with this 'thing' as a replacement for the sedan. They are keeping the hatchback around for now so maybe they know it looks awful.

Mohs Ostentathingymabob
Mohs cars were built by Mohs Seaplane Corporation from 1967 to 1979. Officially, they only built two models but they were also coach builders. Both these cars were extensively ugly and impressively weird.
The first, the SafariKar, featured four wheel drive, a butane heater and a two way radio. With that, you were supposedly ready for one hell of a safari!

Mazda's New Corporate Face
Up until now, Mazda never really made an ugly car. Some were pretty bland but nothing to shake a stick at. When Mazda showed the Nagare concept line, designed by Laurens van den Acker, everyone was thrilled. The cars were aggressive, cool and different. Unfortunately, the influence of the Nagare line on production models was surprisingly uncool in most cases.

French love quirky designs
No, this car isn't a concept from an auto show. It was designed by Matra and produced by Renault from 2001 to 2003. Due to its futuristic design, it was named the Avantime ("before its time" when taken literally). Unfortunately for Renault and fortunately for our eyes, the Avantime was killed pretty fast. Its death is in part due to poor sales and Matra pulling out of automotive production.

GMC Envoy XUV
The XUV was GM's attempt at building a pick-up truck and SUV hybrid featuring a sliding rear roof section and a two-way tailgate you could swing to the side or drop down. When close, the truck worked like a SUV. When open, it was more like a pick-up truck where you could load taller objects.
The front end looks OK |

Chrysler 300
In stock form, the 300 isn't an ugly car. In fact, it can be quite handsome when modified right. The SRT8 version packs quite a punch and does so with subtle looks. Unfortunately, its gangster looks backfired when pseudo-rappers and wannabe-gangsters first got their hands on it. Afterwards, people started donking them...

Subaru B9 Tribeca
The B9 Tribeca's peculiar front end was designed by a firm outside of Subaru's design team, Fuore Design. The grille is supposed to remind you of Fuji Heavy Industries' glorious aviation history. While it is somewhat reminiscent of an airplane, it's brutally offensive to the eyes.
Mitsuoka Orochi
Say it ten times in a row with marshmallows in your mouth. Yep, still sounds better than it looks.Supercars have a knack for ugly and so do rich people. The Orochi name comes from an 8-headed Japanese dragon, Yamata no Orochi, so the design is vaguely reminiscent of a snake with strong touches of retarded 4-eyed catfish. But a supercar it ain't. Powered by a 231hp Toyota V6 mated to a 5 speed automatic transmission, Mitsuoka is trying to pass this as a supercar. The only good thing about it is the Honda NSX hiding under that skin.

Third Generation Ford Taurus
Except for the last generation (2010+), the Taurus has never been a looker. It didn't look bad but didn't turn heads either. The third gen however, was ugly.
PT Cruiser, gaudy mods galore
The Personal Transport Cruiser was introduced in 1999 as a 2000 model under the Plymouth nameplate. 10 years and more than 1.3 million units later, Chrysler stopped production. During that time, it spawned a shitload of special editions, none of which were particularly special. Of notable mention are the turbo and the good ol' woodie version.

Still ugly going 240mph
The Weber supercar, one of the most powerful and fastest supercar around, yet incredibly ugly. You will need a million and a half dollars to get your hands on this thing. This isn't the kind of car you buy for its good looks. It's the kind of car you buy to brag and impress. Or to look like a douche driving what looks like an aborted kit car.
There is no need to describe how or why this car is awful to look at. From the odd front grille to the concave roof, it's all wrong. Its only saving grace is the wheels.

The Pontiac Asstek, errr... Aztek
It would be impossible to have an ugly car blog without mentioning the Pontiac Aztek. The concept truck shown below wasn't bad. In fact, it looked pretty cool compared to the production version. The headlights being oddly reminiscent of the current Hyundai Sonata.
Unfortunately, the production version lost all its coolness and soldiered on to become one of the most hated car design around. Its design didn't age well at all and subsequent exterior changes didn't help.

The Fiat Multipla...
What were Fiat designers thinking?
Fiat produced this monstrosity from 1998 to 2003 and, thank god, introduced a facelifted version in 2004. It was never sold in North America. It seems that the designers combined two vehicles to create one, like they chopped the top off a good car and glued on a green house from a much shorter van.
The lights at the bottom of the A-pillars are the high beams. They can be serviced via a hole in the wiper cowl, where you remove an allen bolt and pull out the entire assembly.
